According to Football Insider, Arsenal are working on a sensational late-window deal for Bayer Leverkusen attacker Moussa Diaby, with owner Stan Kroenke giving the green light to the club to pursue Diaby ahead of the 31 August deadline.
Arsenal believe a move for Diaby would complete their attack, and it is easy to see why.
The Gunners currently have Gabriel Martinelli as their main left-winger, with Emile Smith Rowe and Gabriel Jesus available as cover if needed. Martin Odegaard and Fabio Vieira then share the central attacking midfield role.
However, outside of Bukayo Saka, Arsenal’s quality on the right flank is very lacking. But signing Diaby, who is a natural left-winger but has been moved to the right of late, would provide the Gunners with the cover they need on that flank.
Diaby scored 17 and assisted 14 in 42 outings for Leverkusen last term and provided one assist in his first game of 2022/23 as well.
The report from Football Insider adds that Diaby is valued at £60m.
Moussa Diaby says he’ll remain at Leverkusen next season.
He tells RP Online: “I’ve made my decision and I’ll be playing for Bayer Leverkusen again next season.”
Newcastle did explore signing Diaby but never prepared to overpay.

Of course, plans can change at the drop of a hat in football, but it still seems odd that Arsenal would be going after the player this summer following those comments.
