All the details: Real Madrid close cut-price deal for Joselu

Spanish giants Real Madrid have, late on Saturday, finally closed a definitive agreement to sign Joselu from Espanyol.

For those not aware, hitman Joselu’s name has taken its place front and centre in the headlines at the Santiago Bernabeu over the course of the last week.

This comes after widespread reports confirmed that the 33-year-old had been identified as a prime target on the part of Florentino Perez and the brass at Real Madrid.

Los Blancos have been forced to seek out reinforcements up top, after Karim Benzema opted to call time on his legendary stint in Spain’s capital earlier this month.

With Mariano Diaz too set to depart as a free agent, though, two new faces could be required to sufficiently replenish Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.

In step, Joselu...

Available for a cut-price fee on the back of Espanyol’s relegation, the experienced striker - fresh off netting the winner in Spain’s Nations League semi-final victory over Italy - could act as a perfect backup for whichever big-name striker predictably makes his way to the Bernabeu over the coming months.

And, as alluded to above, late on Saturday night, an agreement has been struck.

The info comes by way of transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who has confirmed that ‘Real Madrid have finally completed Joselu deal — been told it’s signed’.

The deal is set to come in the form of a loan, through the summer of 2024.

Espanyol, for their part, will bag a €500,000 fee, with a non-mandatory option to make the transfer permanent also included, for just €1.5 million.

Not only that, but, in yet further good news when it comes to the books at Real, Joselu has even agreed to reduce his salary.
