Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris offers verdict on Arsenal’s William Saliba

Hugo Lloris has been full of praise for Arsenal’s William Saliba this week.

Saliba, despite signing for the club in 2019, is yet to make a competitive appearance for Arsenal.

Instead, the stopper has been loaned out on three occasions and is currently plying his trade in France with Marseille.

And though he lacks some experience, Saliba is now a key cog in Marseille’s backline, who boast one of the best defensive records in Ligue 1 this term.

Now, despite never playing for Arsenal’s senior team, Saliba could be set to earn his hist France cap after being called up to the squad on the back of Benjamin Pavard’s withdrawal.

In turn, following his Les Bleus call, Saliba has obviously been working with Tottenham and France no.1, Hugo Lloris, who has been full of praise for the youngster:

“He’s got this calm strength about him. We feel him ready and serene. He’s got the assets to go up another level in his career.”

France’s international break

France are set to play out two matches during the March international break.

Les Bleus were able to finish top of their 2022 World Cup qualifying group, picking up five wins and three draws from eight outings to secure 18 points.

As a result, they do not have to take part in any of the World Cup play-off matches which will be going on over the next week.

So, Didier Deschamps’ side will instead only be participating in friendlies over the break.

France will first take on Ivory Coast later this evening at the Stade Velodrome. They will then play host to South Africa on Tuesday the 29th of March at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy.
