Tottenham have been snubbed by Manchester United in their search for forward reinforcements for Antonio Conte, with the Red Devils claiming that any deal for Marcus Rashford would set interested clubs back around £80m.

It is an important summer for Rashford. His career is under threat of stalling completely in the next few months as he has been left out of Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the Nations League clashes in June, one of the last England camps before they travel to Qatar in November for the World Cup.

Coming back from shoulder surgery earlier in the season, the England forward struggled for game time, and did little in the time afforded to him to suggest he warrants additional chances at Old Trafford.

However, that has not stopped new boss Erik ten Hag and co. slapping a hefty £80m price tag on the head of the 24-year-old, while the Times report that 'Spurs were told that Rashford would like to stay at United and try to impress Erik ten Hag'.

Both clubs to miss out on top targets

Meanwhile, the Red Devils themselves are looking likely to miss out on Benfica talent Darwin Nunez, as Liverpool have swooped in for the Uruguayan to fill the void left by Sadio Mane, who is expected to join Bayern Munich.

Spurs, on the other hand, are set to miss out on Alessandro Bastoni, with the Inter Milan defender set to remain in Italy this summer according to his agent.

It could be a long summer for both clubs.
