Everton vs Tottenham

Antonio Conte is set to take charge of his first Premier League game as Tottenham manager this weekend.

The Italian was appointed as Spurs’ new boss earlier this week before taking charge of a Europa Conference League tie on Thursday.

Tottenham had an excellent start to that match and sailed out in front by three goals to nil.

However, the Lilywhites’ shaky backline nearly cost them the win as they conceded twice against the Dutch outfit.

And whilst Spurs were able to edge out a win against Vitesse, Everton are likely to be a much tougher challenge this weekend.

Cahill speaks out on Antonio Conte becoming Tottenham boss

Conte, though, is a very experienced manager who has previously reached the top of the mountain in England.

The Italian would enjoy a spell at Tottenham’s London rivals, Chelsea, in which he guided them to a Premier League title and FA Cup.

Now, after Conte was appointed Spurs boss, Gary Cahill, who was a key part of Conte’s title-winning Chelsea side, has been speaking about his former boss.

And Tottenham fans are likely to love Cahill’s comments, with the former central defender labelling Conte as successful, driven, intense, demanding and a great appointment for Spurs:

“The guy’s successful. I have got a huge amount of respect for him. He was great with me in the time that I had with him.

“You just have to look at his record – when he was in Italy and what he did there and when he came to Chelsea and what he did there. So I think it’s a very good appointment for them [Tottenham].

“He’s very intense, expects a lot in training, demands a lot from everybody. He’s very driven.

“When he turned it into the kind of formation and shape and how we wanted to do things, he really put his stamp on the squad.

“We went on to be very successful in that year and obviously, we won the title. The second year wasn’t as good in the league, but we won the FA Cup at the end of it.”
