Tottenham dealt fresh Oliver Skipp blow ahead of Aston Villa

Tottenham have been dealt a fresh blow on the Oliver Skipp front on Wednesday.

Skipp had an excellent start to the 2021/22 campaign and was one of Spurs’ most consistent players at a time they were struggling for form.

However, the 21-year-old was then injured at the end of January in a clash with Chelsea has been sidelined since.

The midfielder was believed to be edging closer to a return, but now, the Evening Standard have delivered a less than positive update on Skipp.

They report that Skipp trained individually on the grass on Monday and Tuesday, but was set to be back indoors on Wednesday after reporting soreness in his pelvis

This comes after Antonio Conte said last week that Skipp was "very, very close" to returning from a long-term pelvic injury.

Now though, the Evening Standard report that Skipp is certain to sit out Spurs’ visit to Aston Villa, with his potential return date still unclear.

Aston Villa vs Tottenham

Tottenham take on Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa in the day’s late kick-off on Saturday.

Spurs head into the match having won five of their last six league games, several of which by considerable margins, including their most recent 5-1 hammering of Newcastle United.

Said win saw the Lilywhites climb up to 4th in the Premier League, level on points with Arsenal who have a game in hand.

As a result, the clash with Villa, who have lost three of their last five, is a must-win for Antonio Conte and co.
