Tottenham boost: Key trio expected to return for North London Derby

The Lilywhites have been handed a major advantage ahead of hosting their north london rivals

Tottenham have been handed a major boost as a trio of stars will be in the frame to start against Premier League leaders Arsenal in next week’s north London derby, it has been confirmed.

The Lilywhites have endured mixed form and performances since domestic football resumed after the mid-season break, coming from two goals down to draw with Brentford before they losing 2-0 to Aston Villa on New Year’s Day.

Antonio Conte’s side bounced back with a 4-0 win at Crystal Palace and came through a tricky FA Cup tie with a 1-0 win over League One Portsmouth, but resources have been stretched thin, with the likes of Pape Sarr, Japhet Tanganga and Bryan Gil all starting in their most recent outing.

As per Football.London, however, they are set to be handed a trio of major boosts ahead of their north London derby on Sunday, with all of Rodrigo Bentancur, Dejan Kulusevski and Yves Bissouma in line to start the clash after recovering from injury.

“Dejan Kulusevski is currently the best-placed of the injured bunch to return for the derby, while Rodrigo Bentancur is also expected to be ready to return for his first game since the World Cup”, they report.

Meanwhile, Bissouma picked up an injury in the warm-up against Pompey, but will recover in plenty of time to play if necessary, meaning that he will likely share midfield duties with the returning Bentancur, with one replacing the other from the substitutes bench.

The aformentioned trio returning, especially transformative pair Kulusevski and Bentancur will give Spurs renewed belief, however, that they can repeat their 3-0 victory from last season over the Gunners, and stop Mikel Arteta’s side building up any momentum after the turn of the year.
