Three times Champions League winner keen on Nottingham Forest move

The midlands outfit are on the hunt for yet another new signing

Nottingham Forest are closing in on a move for decorated goalkeeper Keylor Navas as Steve Cooper eyes up his 27th signing since they were promoted to the Premier League.

Forest have been busy already this transfer window, adding Brazilian duo Gustavo Scarpa and Danilo Pereira as well as agreeing a loan deal for striker Chris Wood following injury to Awoniyi.

And they are once again ready to splash out on another new name as Forest look to find cover for shot-stopper Dean Henderson, who has been ruled out for around a month through injury after suffering a tear in his thigh muscle.

As it stands, Wayne Hennessey is the only cover for the Manchester United loanee, and Cooper is looking to add to his squad depth with the potential arrival of Keylor Navas. The 36-year-old, who won three Champions League trophies with Real Madrid before moving to Paris Saint Germain, where he has fallen behind Gianluigi Donnarumma in the pecking order.

And as per L’equipe, Forest are closing in on adding the Costa Rican no.1 to their ranks before the end of the transfer window, with Navas having already turned down a move to Saudi side Al-Sadd this January and is keen to remain in Europe, though it is unclear whether or not the deal with Forest will consist of a loan or be a permanent affair.

Meanwhile, Steve Cooper’s side are also considering hijacking Leeds United’s move for Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie, with the Athletic reporting that though a deal with Leeds is close for the USMNT star, Forest are considering an 11th hour bid to challenge their fellow relegation candidates for his signature.
