The Blues faced off with Serie A outfit Udinese in a friendly match on Friday evening.
Chelsea came away with a resounding 3-1 win thanks to goals from N’Golo Kante, Raheem Sterling and Mason Mount.
Former Everton star Gerrard Deulofeu netted the Italian side’s only goal of the day.
But despite picking up a pretty comfortable win on the day, Thomas Tuchel has picked out some key issues, including Chelsea’s inability to finish chances:
“We have a lot of positives to take away from this game and it’s a good performance, a good result. We could and should have scored many more,” said Tuchel.
Elsewhere, Tuchel warned that Chelsea are not ready for the new season yet:
“The new season is right in front of the door and we need to improve. We are not ready yet. We don’t have to be ready yet, we have another week. Then it’s time to be on the best level. There’s some way to go,” he said.
“It was a pretty long pre-season, it was also tiring and exhausting to be in the US for so long. Having another travel today was not so easy. It’s always nice when the season arrives and we feel the tension and pressure we all enjoy.”
Everton vs Chelsea
Chelsea kick off their Premier League campaign on Saturday, August 6th vs Frank Lampard’s Everton.
Despite a mixed pre-season, Chelsea head into the game as clear favourites.
Everton narrowly avoided the drop last time out and it is clear they will struggle again this term.
The Toffees sold Richarlison to Tottenham and have been in poor form during pre-season, losing 4-0 to Minnesota.
