Thomas Partey disagrees with Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta following Watford win

The Gunners were in Premier League action on Sunday afternoon, knowing that a win would see them move into the top-four and stay there if Manchester United lost their game later in the day.

And, when all was said and done, Arsenal came away with a deserved three points. Martin Odegaard opened the scoring on the day, finishing off a well-worked move:

Watford then pulled one back through Cucho Hernandez, but Arsenal quickly retook the lead via Bukayo Saka:

Gabriel Martinelli went on to make it 3-1 in the second half, with a late Moussa Sissoko goal nothing more than a consolation for the Hornets.

Partey disagrees with Arteta

Following the game, Mikel Arteta would bemoan Arsenalā€™s ability to keep control of the clash with Watford:

"A lot of positive things in our general play, the chances we created, we scored some great goals, but we didnā€™t have total control of the game and Iā€™m not happy with that,ā€ Arteta said.

ā€œOnce we scored the third one I think we should have played a completely different game. We didnā€™t manage to take control of the game to play the right passes in the right areas.

ā€œWe were rushed, we were broken [against], we were in transition moments where we didnā€™t finish the actions, we had transition moments against us and that creates physically a very demanding game, which you could see in some players."

However, Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has since disagreed with Artetaā€™s view post-Watford, stating that the Gunners tried their best to control the game, and their best to manage the game to secure the three points which they would end up doing so:

"We knew coming here it was not going to be easy. We tried to do our best and we tried to control the game," Partey said.

"At the end, we were able to score three goals. It's difficult here so we had to manage [the game] and try our best to get the three points. In the end that is what we did."
