The latest on Mason Mount's injury status ahead of Chelsea's Carabao Cup Final

Chelsea have been handed a major boost on the injury front ahead of their Carabao Cup final clash with Liverpool on Sunday.

This comes as Mason Mount is thought to be ready to return from his niggle in time for the trip to Wembley.

The English forward was forced off with an ankle injury in the first half of the Blues' Club world Cup win over Brazilian side Palmeiras, and could not be ready for Chelsea's 1-0 win over Crystal Palace either.

However, as per Nizaar Kinsella of Goal.com, while Mount will miss the Champions League clash with Lille in midweek, he will be fit and firing come the all-important Carabao Cup final.

Tuchel, however, has other problems.

What to do with Romelu?

It was easy to see why Lukaku may have been a brilliant fit for Chelsea when he signed in the summer, but for one reason or another it simply isn't working.

The Belgian had just 7 touches against Crystal Palace, the fewest touches in a Premier League match since 2003/04, when data began being recorded, and 5 Premier League goals in 17 games, including 2 in his last 14, is not a good enough to justify his price tag.

Tuchel will be hoping that Mount's return to the side will help bring out more from the Belgian striker, but it is looking like bridges may already have been burned.
