The latest on Jarrod Bowen & Vladimir Coufal ahead of Sevilla second leg

Some less than ideal news regarding two of West Ham’s key stars has emerged ahead of their next outing.

West Ham are set to face off with Sevilla this coming Thursday. The game is the second of two Round of 16 Europa League outings.

The Hammers took on the Europa League specialists in Spain last week, losing by a scoreline of 1-0.

Given Sevilla’s impeccable record in the competition, a 1-0 defeat to them away from home is not the worst thing in the world, especially now away goals count for nothing.

Jarrod Bowen & Coufal latest

Now though, West Ham are needing to score at least once on Thursday to take the game to extra time.

However, it looks as though they will have to do so without two of their key players.

Vladimir Coufal is the Hammers’ main right-back and has been in excellent form once again this term. However, the defender has missed West Ham’s last four league games and their first leg vs Sevilla due to injury.

Jarrod Bowen, who has scored 12 and assisted 11 in 38 outings this campaign, also missed the reverse fixture with injury.

Now, on Wednesday, West Ham have been training ahead of their meeting with Sevilla. However, as reported by the Evening Standard’s Jack Rosser, Bowen was not involved and Coufal trained on his own.

On Coufal, it is added that the full-back is not expected to be back until after the March international break:

That means he will miss the London derby with Tottenham this coming weekend, a tie that could play a huge role in West Ham's hunt for a top-six finish.
