Tammy Abraham surpasses legends in Roma history books as Mourinho's men take derby spoils


 

The fine debut campaign being enjoyed by Tammy Abraham with AS Roma continued this evening, as the English international proved the star of the show for Jose Mourinho's men once more.

Roma, of course, were back in action a short time ago.

In one of the highlights of the Italian football calendar, the Giallorossi faced off with fierce city rivals Lazio, in the latest edition of the Derby della Capitale.

And to say that, when all was said and done, red reigned supreme in Rome would be something of an understatement.

A dominant display, particularly over the course of the opening 45 minutes, ultimately culminated in Mourinho and co. emerging on the right side of a 3-0 scoreline.

The aforementioned Abraham shone bright once more, bagging a brace inside the opening 25 minutes to hand the Giallorossi just rewards for a scintillating opening to proceedings.

And the result was essentially put beyond all doubt a short time later, when Roma captain Lorenzo Pellegrini conjured up a moment of pure genius, bending a sumptuous free-kick into the near top corner to send the Giallorossi faithful into delirium:

On the back of the action coming to a close at the Stadio Olimpico, though, it is the name of that man Abraham which has gone on to dominate the post-match headlines.

This comes owing to a series of head-turning statistics, highlighting the truly historic nature of the former Chelsea man's exploits to this point in the campaign.

First, it was revealed that Abraham has now scored more debut season goals than any other player in Roma's history:

His 15th Serie A strike of the term means that the Englishman has also bagged more goals than any of his compatriots across Europe's top-five divisions in 2021/22:

Not only that, but Abraham's opener this evening, after just 56 seconds, now represents the fastest ever scored in the Derby della Capitale in Serie A:
