Sir Jim Ratcliffe speaks out on buying Manchester United

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has once again been speaking about buying Manchester United.

The Glazer family have been in full focus once again at the beginning of 2022/23 as Manchester United fans continue to take issue with their owners.

There have been a handful of protests, but those quickly died down when Manchester United went out and spent over £140m on Casemiro and Antony.

Protests in the past, though, appear to have little real impact on the Glazers, and it is obvious to most that the only way Manchester United will ever be a top, top club again is if someone else buys the club from the Glazer family.

One man who was at least planning to do so was Sir Jim Ratcliffe. Ratcliffe, worth a reported £9.8 billion has previously suggested he was willing to open negotiations about a takeover at Old Trafford as fan pressure mounts on the Glazers.

However, in a recent interview, Ratcliffe stated that he met with the Glazers and they do not wish to sell:

“I’m a life-long Manchester United fan… but Man United is owned by the Glazer family. I’ve met Joel and Avram and they are the nicest people… and they don’t want to sell it. We can’t sit around hoping one day Man United will become available.”
