Sheffield United 1-2 Manchester City: Match report, player ratings, fan reaction and more

All the action and reaction from Bramall Lane.

Manchester City looked to continue their unbeaten start to the season on Sunday when they took on a newly-promoted Sheffield United.

The Blades had lost their opening two matches of the season and another defeat was expected on Sunday.

When all was said and done in Sheffield, City picked up the win.

It was a very slow start to the game, with the most notable moment from the first 18 minutes Ben Osbron being forced off with an injury.

Nathan Ake scored from a free-kick after 20 minutes but Rodri was offside in the build-up.

Julian Alvarez nearly gave City the lead after 26 minutes but Wes Foderingham made an excellent stop.

The whistle blew to end what was a very uneventful first half, in which Man City dominated but created very little.

Erling Haaland missed a good chance to put City in front early in the second half. Rodri then put an effort just wide shortly before the hour-mark as City’s dominance continued but their finishing was lacking.

Foderingham made a smart save after 60 minutes to keep a Haaland chip out. But the Norweigan eventually got his goal two minutes later:

Sheffield United finally began to attack after going behind and actually equalised after 84 minutes through Jayden Bogle.

The score waslevel for just a few minutes, though, thanks to Rodri smashing in his second goal of the season.
