Chelsea faced off with RB Salzburg in Austria, knowing a win on the day would guarantee them top spot in their Champions League group.
And when all was said and done in Austria, Chelsea earned a 2-1 win.
Both the Bluesβ goals on the day were stunning strikes, first from Mateo Kovacic and then from Kai Havertz.
After the match, which saw Havertz score his first Chelsea goal from outside the box in the 64th minute, Potter was full of praise for the German international:
βHis quality is there; heβs an incredibly talented player,β Potter said. βHeβs been nearly there and obviously, scoring a goal like that is bound to help.
βI wouldnβt be able to score a goal like that to be fair, I can only imagine! Itβs a fantastic strike and an indication of the quality he has. So Iβm really pleased for him.β
βThe idea, because of how Red Bull defend, they often give you the opposite space,β Potter added. βSo if you can get the ball out to someone good in one-vs-one situations, you can have an advantage potential.
βBut also, it makes them stretch across the pitch and open up games in their very organised line. It worked quite well today and Iβm pleased for the boys.β
