The agent of Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has been speaking about his client’s future in a recent interview.

The comments in question, of course, come amid what has been a fairly terrible 2021/22 campaign by Lukaku’s usually lofty standards.

However, despite being something of a bit-part player for the Blues, Lukaku is still the club’s top scorer in all competitions, having netted 15 in 45 outings, two more than both Kai Havertz and Mason Mount.

Chelsea saw a similar situation last term as well, with Tammy Abraham frozen out by Thomas Tuchel yet having remained the club’s top scorer in all competitions.

Abraham has since left Chelsea and is excelling in Serie A with AS Roma. As a result, as long as Tuchel remains in charge, it looks as though a move away from west London could benefit Lukaku.

And his agent has suggested this week that he will soon meet with Chelsea to discuss the Belgian's future:

"The situation must be carefully evaluated, now there’s a Champions League spot to secure, and the Fa Cup final: Romelu is totally focused on that, we have not talked about anything else".

"It’s nonsense to speculate on negotiations: Chelsea have just defined the takeover of the club, we still don’t know our new interlocutors, let alone if we can hypothesize talks with Inter, AC Milan or whatever. We have to be patient and wait. "
