Robin van Persie speculates on Alexis Sanchez’s Man United nightmare

Why has Alexis Sanchez flopped?

Robin van Persie has speculated on why ex-Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez has struggled so much during his time at Manchester United.

The Chilean has had a torrid time at Old Trafford since signing from Arsenal.

While much was expected of Sanchez, he’s only scored five goals in 45 games for Man United.

That’s led to much criticism, and he’s even reportedly close to leaving the club.

According to reports, Sanchez could be on his way to Inter Milan, and his medical was supposedly set for Tuesday.

However, Robin van Persie has now been speculating as to why it’s gone so horribly wrong for Sanchez.

“Maybe it’s all become a little too much for him”

Speaking to BT Sport, the Dutchman suggested that the negativity and pressure is potentially ‘a little bit too much for him’.

“I don’t know if it’s the pressure,” van Persie explained.

“Pressure is something you can’t see or touch but he has to manage that in his head. But he is still the same great player. He has it all: he’s fast, he can assist, he can dribble, and he can score.

“There is just a lot of negativity around him from fans and people who have opinions on social media. Maybe it’s all become a little too much for him. He just needs to block it out, find his true happiness and just enjoy football.”
