Revealed: Who Manchester United want if they cannot sign Mauricio Pochettino

Ralf Rangnick to become interim boss

Manchester United would sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last Sunday following an embarrassing 4-1 defeat at the hands of Watford.

Solskjaer leaves the Red Devils languishing in mid-table in the Premier League, with their place in the Champions League knockout rounds having also only been secured on the back of his departure.

For the time being, Manchester United have put Michael Carrick, Solskjaer’s previous assistant, in charge of the squad until an interim boss is named:

Michael Carrick will now take charge of the team for forthcoming games, while the club looks to appoint an interim manager to the end of the season.

And it appears as though we will see an interim boss at United soon, with Ralf Rangnick expected to take the reins for the remainder of 2021/22.

Who will be Manchester United’s actual manager?

This, though, still leaves Manchester United with the rather large task of appointing a permanent manager in the summer.

But who will the Red Devils go for? Well, the Daily Mail have provided some insight into this recently.

PSG and former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is said to be United’s first choice. However, if they cannot land the Argentine, Erik ten Hag is said to be the alternative target:

The same report by the DM also reveals Ten Hag’s stance on taking the United job, with the Dutchman believed to be interested and Ajax reportedly not looking to stand in his way if he wants to leave at the end of the campaign.
