Revealed: How three key Tottenham players reacted to Antonio Conte’s explosive rant

Tottenham players have been reacting to Antonio Conte’s explosive comments after their draw at Southampton...

Antonio Conte produced an explosive rant against his players following their 3-3 draw with Southampton last Saturday.

The Italian is expected to be sacked by Spurs following a string of poor results performances and now his latest tirade.

He accused his players of not wanting to play under pressure and the culture in the dressing room being the reason why the club haven’t won a trophy in 14 years.

With most of the squad now away on international duty, several players have been quizzed about their thoughts on the manager’s comments…

Kulusevski: “I know what I bring to the team”

Dejan Kulusevsi has revealed he did not take offence from Conte’s comments.

The 22-year-old is confident he is giving his best for the team.

“Every day I know I prepare myself to do as good as I can and that is why I can always look myself in the mirror.

“Sometimes I don’t play good enough and I can take responsibility for that but what he said, is for him.

“It is his words but I respect him and he help me a lot during my career. He is still a very important man in our club and in my world.”

Højbjerg: “I think he has to elaborate on how he feels”

Pierre-Emile Højbjerg believes Conte needed to be more precise in his criticism of the squad.

The Danish international suggested that the players work hard for each other but the team is just in a difficult moment.

Højbjerg said: “I understand that if you want to be successful as a team you need 11 men who are committed to a project and a culture.

“But I think he has to elaborate on how he feels before you as a player can start measuring and weighing.

“I am not the one to judge it. If that’s how he sees it, then you have to be a little more precise in order for you as a player to take it to heart.

“But it is clear that you work with each other every day, you want the best for each other, and you want to be successful together.

“And sometimes the waves go high in football.”

Porro: “Well, that’s his opinion…”

Meanwhile, Pedro Porro admitted: “The first thing is, what you’re talking about: I hadn’t heard it until now.”

After being shown what was said the Spaniard replied:

“Well, that’s his opinion. I’m not getting involved there. That’s not one for me.”
