Thiago Silva’s wife has hit out at criticism the Chelsea defender received during the Blues’ loss to Brentford on Saturday.
Belle Silva took to social media after it was suggested on commentary that the centre-back was not attacking enough.
In response to said comments, Belle posted to her Instagram account, urging people to show respect to her husband, who only arrived back in England from Brazil on Friday:
“I’m here in my box at Stamford Bridge. I just listened back to the commentary right now and what the commentator said,” Silva’s wife stated.
“‘Thiago is not attacking enough.’ Respect him, please. Thiago Silva arrived yesterday as he played for Brazil. Thiago Silva is very tired, and he’s 37-years-old. He’s played since he was 20-years-old so respect to him- he’s not a machine, he’s human, so he needs to relax, alright.”
Thiago Silva’s wife, Belle, was not happy with the commentator’s comments regarding the #Chelsea centre-back.

Chelsea’s defensive woes
Belle’s comments are understandable, as the 37-year-old probably should not be playing as often as he is right now.
Malang Sarr could have filled in for the South American vs Brentford, but it is expected that he will instead be starting at left-back against Real Madrid in the week. So, it is easy to see why Tuchel wanted to rest Sarr ahead of such a crucial game.
But with Chelsea set to play a minimum of another 11 fixtures this season, there remains a genuine risk of Silva being burnt out.
