Arsenal have reached an outlandish 40m euro agreement with Porto for 22-year-old midfielder Fabio Vieira, according to Portuguese journalist Pedro Sepúlveda.

The Gunners are on the hunt for midfield additions, and have reportedly identified Vieira as the key man to provide cover for the likes of Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka.

A deal for Youri Tielemans is expected to be completed by the end of the month, but Vieira would provide further strength in depth for Mikel Arteta, with the report suggesting that a deal worth 40m euros has been agreed between the Gunners and Porto.

And, it is a report that has since been echoed across Portugal, with Record backing the suggestion that Vieira is Emirates bound.

Should it prove correct, it would become Arsenal's second signing of the summer, after youngster Marquinhos joined from Sao Paulo.

Who is Fabio Vieira?

Vieira is a little-known name in England, despite having previously been linked with Liverpool. Able to play in either central-midfield or as an attacking midfielder, the 21-year-old returned 6 goals and 14 assists in 27 Liga Portugal outings this campaign.

It was thought that the Reds had first refusal on the youngster, but this has since been reported as untrue, and it seems as though Arsenal have decided to swoop in for their man.
