Chelsea star Reece James has, on Friday, unveiled an apologetic message to the club’s supporter base.
Defender James, of course, is approaching the close of what has proven a largely underwhelming campaign.
Though he continued to play a starring role when fit and available, the England international, once more, was forced into extended spells on the sidelines owing to injury.
All told, James has featured from the off in just 14 of Chelsea’s 37 Premier League fixtures.
Such struggles have come amid nothing short of a nightmare campaign at Stamford Bridge, opening with title aspirations, and finishing with a bottom half finish.
And, evidently, such woes have not been at all lost on the part of the aforementioned James.
After confirming that he is set to miss out once more, when Frank Lampard’s troops close out their season in a home meeting with Newcastle this weekend, the 23-year-old went on to confirm that he is ‘sorry’ the Blues have failed to live up to expectations:
“I won’t be back for the last game. It’s been tough for me. I’m sorry this season hasn’t gone as we all wanted. Next season I’ll be back stronger than ever and we will be back fighting for trophies.”
