Real Madrid handed concerning update ahead of Chelsea


Real Madrid have been handed some concerning news ahead of their upcoming meeting with Chelsea.

Real and Chelsea will face off in the first of two Champions League quarter-final ties on Wednesday at Stamford Bridge. The pair will then meet at the Bernabeu a week later for the second leg.

Ahead of the game though, some less than positive news regarding Carlo Ancelotti has emerged.

Football.london citing Spanish outlet AS report that Real Madrid are sweating over Ancelotti’s welfare, with the Italian a doubt for their Champions League clash with Chelsea on Wednesday evening.

Ancelotti missed out on Los Blancos’ 2-1 victory against Celta Vigo at the weekend having tested positive for Covid-19 and whilst the former Chelsea boss is said to be fine, he is still returning positive tests for the virus so could potentially be forced to sit out the trip to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea head into the Real Madrid game on the back of a pretty concerning 4-1 loss at the hands of Brentford.

Despite this major upset, Thomas Tuchel is still likely confident of getting one over on Madrid this week and next week.

The German would beat Real with Chelsea in the semi-finals of last season’s Champions League, with the Blues of course going on to win the competition.

And before that, Tuchel was already unbeaten against the Spanish powerhouse when in charge of both Borussia Dortmund and PSG:
