Pep Guardiola confirms Manchester City’s plan for Sergio Gomez & provides injury update ahead of Bournemouth

Pep Guardiola spoke to the media on Friday afternoon ahead of Manchester City’s upcoming clash.

Man City face off with Scott Parker’s Bournemouth at 3 pm UK this coming Saturday.

Ahead of the tie, Pep Guardiola discussed a number of topics in his press conference, including confirming that Sergio Gomez is signing for City and will stay at the club to compete at left-back:

“You know the club is always working on many possibilities in many positions. This one target is a young player, in the WC years ago the best player was Foden and he was the secon best player.

“He played in Spain U21, young talent for Barcelona, went to Dortmund, played in good hands under Kompany. He played well, we target him to bring him here. He’s for now, he will stay with us, the squad, alongside Joao, Josh and him for the left-backs, he’ll stay with us.”

Elsewhere, Pep provided a brief injury update on his squad: “We have Kalvin with some niggles, Cole Palmer had a knock in his feet so is a doubt. The rest fine.”

Manchester City vs Bournemouth

Manchester City head into their match with Bournemouth at the Etihad as major favourites.

Bournemouth have also not scored more than one goal against Manchester City since May 1989.

Bournemouth, though, may be boosted by their 2-0 win over Aston Villa on the opening weekend.
