Pep Guardiola confirms future plans for Julian Alvarez

Pep Guardiola has been discussing future plans for Julian Alvarez.

Alvarez was signed by Premier League powerhouse Man City earlier this year, and has now linked up with the Sky Blues for the 2022/23 campaign, after spending some time back on loan in his home country with River Plate.

All told, Alvarez featured 18 times for River Plate in their current season, netting 14 and assisting four in the process.

For Manchester City, meanwhile, Alvarez has now made six appearances in all competitions, five of which came from the bench.

However, in his one start for the Sky Blues, he scored twice vs Nottingham Forest.

Now, ahead of Manchester City facing Wolves, Pep Guardiola has stated that he sees the South American as a central option, even though he has looked good out wide so far this season:

“His numbers, the way he’s played, discover in the last game he can play wider have another in that position, it doesn’t matter if he doesn’t score, but we’ve seen how fast and clinical he is and we are so happy with him. He can play wide but I see him more in central positions,” Guardiola said.
