Erling Haaland has taken the Premier League by storm following his arrival at the Etihad over the summer.
After netting vs Fulham over the weekend, the Norwegian matched the record (34) for most goals scored in a single Premier League season. What makes Haalandβs achievement even more impressive, though, is he did so in a 38-game campaign, with the previous record holder having 42 matches to do so.
And with 2022/23 still not over, Haaland is expected to surpass that record, likely vs West Ham on Wednesday evening.
Haaland is also the first player in the English top-flight to score 50 goals in one season since back in the 1930sβ.
Now, Pep Guardiola has compared Haaland to Lionel Messi in terms of goals and mentality:
βNo one can compare with Messi, it will not help Erling, but in terms of goals and mentality, yeah,β Pep stated.
βHopefully Erling can be so close like [to] Leo, that will be great for us and him,β he added.
