Official: Ousmane Dembele renews Barcelona contract until 2024

French forward Ousmane Dembele has committed his future to Barcelona, penning a new two-year deal with the Catalans, the club have confirmed.

The 25-year-old had been a free agent since his previous deal with Xavi's side expired on July 1st 2022, and there was speculation that he could take his talents elsewhere, with Chelsea thought to have been interested.

However, he has instead prolonged his time at the Camp Nou, and in doing so accepted a significant salary reduction in order to help out the Blaugrana.

He will continue to ply his trade for Xavi's side for a further two seasons, while there will undoubtedly be hope that 'Dembouz' will cruise beyond that mark, too, if he can continue to showcase his talent.

So far in his Barcelona career, Dembele has managed to return 32 goals and 34 assists in 150 appearances, and has appeared on both the right and left wing.

Barca building a formidable frontline

Despite their financial issues, Barcelona are continuing to assemble quite the front line.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ferran Torres joined the club in January, while Raphinha is poised to arrive from Leeds United and there remains optimism that a deal for Robert Lewandowski will be agreed in the coming weeks, for a fee of around 55m euros.

They will add to current options, which include the exciting but injury-plagued Ansu Fati, as well as Martin Braithwaite and Memphis Depay, both of whom are free to depart but are seemingly lacking suitors.

The decision to keep Dembele at the Camp Nou for the coming season and beyond only strengthens their current crop.
