Bruno Fernandes has signed a new contract with Manchester United, the club have announced.
Fernandes’ previous deal ran until 2025, with it reported that there was also an option for an extra year.
Now, as confirmed by United, the 27-year-old has penned fresh terms until 2026, with this deal also including the option of a one-year extension:
After signing his new deal, Fernandes had the following to say: “From the moment that I joined Manchester United, I have had a special relationship with the club and our amazing fans. I grew up watching this team, dreaming of getting the chance to play here one day.
Bruno Fernandes’ Manchester United stint
The signing of Bruno Fernandes, at first, looked like one of the best bits of business Manchester United had done in years.
The Portuguese arrived at Old Trafford from Sporting CP in January of 2020, and would go on to completely dominate the English top-flight for 18 months.
Fernandes, of course, played a key role in United securing a Champions League spot in 2019/20.
His sensational form has waned slightly in the current campaign, but this comes with Manchester United, as a squad, seriously struggling.
Still, Fernandes has been able to net nine and assist 14 in 37 outings for the Red Devils in 2021/22, a pretty respectable record for someone not playing close to their best right now.
