Official: Barcelona announce defender signing

Spanish giants Barcelona have, on Friday, announced the latest addition to the club’s personnel ranks.

The player to have put pen to paper on terms with the Catalans? Julian Araujo.

Those of a Barca persuasion will of course, at this point, be well accustomed to the name of talented young defender Araujo.

And this does not come owing to namesake Ronald’s presence in Xavi Hernandez’s first-team setup.

Instead, Araujo has taken his place front and centre in the headlines at the Camp Nou for several weeks now.

This comes owing to a bizarre deadline day hiccup, which ultimately culminated in the Mexican international’s move to La Liga falling through.

And now, as alluded to above, such endeavours have firmly paid off.

In respective announcements across social media, both Barca and the LA Galaxy have confirmed that Araujo has taken his talents to the former.

The 21-year-old has linked up with the Blaugrana’s B team, Barca Atletic, set to see out the season playing under the watch of legendary compatriot Rafa Marquez.

Araujo’s contract at the Camp Nou runs through the summer of 2026.
