When will the 2021/22 Premier League campaign start?
The 2021/22 Premier League campaign is set to get underway in just under two months’ time.
Unlike this past season, which saw Covid-19 force a late start, fans will benefit from a fairly normal schedule this time around.
The season, as announced by the Premier League, will begin on August 14th, and end on May 22nd.
The lengthier campaign will hopefully allow for a reduction in fixture congestion compared to 2020/21.
Premier League 2021/22 week one
The Premier League have, for the time being, announced that all 20 teams in the division will be in action on the opening day, Saturday August 14th. However, this date is subject to change.
And the first set of fixtures has thrown up some pretty interesting ties.
First, Premier League newcomers Brentford are handed a baptism of fire with an opening day meeting with Arsenal.
Elsewhere, Norwich are reunited with old foes Liverpool in week one, whilst Tottenham’s new boss will be handed a tough opening game against champions, Manchester City.
Perhaps the biggest tie of the day, however, will see Manchester United and Leeds United go head-to-head at Old Trafford.
The pair have a historic rivalry, and played out some entertaining clashes last season.
The remaining GW1 fixtures are as follows: Burnley vs Brighton, Chelsea vs Crystal Palace, Everton vs Southampton, Leicester vs Wolves, Newcastle vs West Ham and Watford vs Aston Villa.
