Nottingham Forest team news and predicted XI vs Newcastle United

The latest team news from the midlands side.

Nottingham Forest and Steve Cooper are looking for their first win in six Premier League games as they welcome Newcastle United to the City Ground on Friday night, with a win taking them a massive step towards safety.

Cooper’s side currently sit 14th in their first season back in the top flight this millennia, but are just two points above the relegation zone as it stands and could end the weekend back in the bottom three should results go against them.

They play host to a Newcastle United also in scratchy form, but looking to turn things around for their top four hopes amid improvement from Tottenham and Liverpool around them.

Here’s the latest team news and how we expect Forest to line up.

Predicted XI

Team News

Nottingham Forest still have plenty of injury issues to contend with ahead of the Friday evening clash.

Wily Boly and Scott McKenna are both still absent through injury, with Steve Cooper revealing that Boly in particular may not feature again this season.

Also out is Gustavo Scarpa, who is absent through personal reasons, while Wayne Hennessey continues to struggle with a knee injury.

Worse still, the talented Brennan Johnson will also likely be absent, with Cooper explaining that “Brennan has had a scan. It’s unlikely [he] will be involved at the weekend, but there’s a small chance, and we want to give him every chance to see if he is available.”

As a result, it could be ex-Watford attacker Emmanuel Dennis brought into attack in an otherwise largely unchanged side for Steve Cooper and Forest.
