Barcelona starlet Nico Gonzalez has, on Thursday, provided his take on the ongoing contract sagas of teammates Gavi and Ronald Araujo.
For those not aware, the hierarchy at the Camp Nou have, for several months now, been locked in negotiations with midfield starlet Gavi and central defender Araujo.
Both have established themselves as key contributors under the watch of Xavi Hernandez to this point in the campaign, with the renewal of their respective terms, as a result, having emerged as something of a priority.
Concerningly from a Blaugrana perspective, however, to this point, little word has been forthcoming regarding progress being made in negotiations between the parties.
One individual who nevertheless remains hopeful of both Gavi and Araujo ultimately putting pen to paper on fresh terms in the Catalan capital, though, comes in the form of the aforementioned Nico.
Speaking in an interview with Anais Marti of Spanish outlet La Vanguardia on Thursday, midfield talent Nico was asked for his take on the negotiations between his two teammates and those in a position of power at Barcelona rumbling on.
And the 20-year-old, from here, revealed his hope that both players will eventually be convinced to commit to Xavi's troops for not only the short term, but the remainder of their respective careers:
“I hope Gavi & Araujo can renew their contracts for 15 years.”
Coincidentally, Nico's take on the contract situation of his teammates comes on the same day as a major update surrounding the future of stopper Araujo.
As per ESPN, Barcelona's latest contract offer to their in-form defender runs through the summer of 2027, at 5 million euro-per-season.
It is also suggested, however, that both Manchester United and Liverpool are ready to blow the Blaugrana's proposal out of the water, courtesy of a contract offer to Araujo worth a hefty 8 million euro-per-year.
