Chelsea star N’Golo Kante has, on Thursday, provided an insight into his future in west London.
The subject of midfielder Kante’s future has of course long taken its place front and centre in the headlines at Stamford Bridge.
This comes amid question marks over the Frenchman’s willingness to stay put for the long-term.
Kante’s current terms are due to expire in the summer, with interest in his services on the part of La Liga heavyweights Barcelona having given rise to suggestions that the 32-year-old could soon be on the move.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of his plans for next season and beyond were put to Kante himself.
And, in a boost for those of a Chelsea persuasion hopeful of seeing a once integral member of the club’s engine room ranks stay put, Kante confirmed his intention to put pen to paper on a new contract.
“For sure”, the French international responded when asked if he is hopeful of being a part of the new project at Stamford Bridge during an interview with Sky Sports.
“It’s an exciting project for the club. Unfortunately this season hasn’t been to Chelsea’s standards.
“But everyone wants to go in this way, the way of success and winning titles.
“I hope this club will again fight in this direction.
“Let’s see where I will be but I hope that this is a change for the club, that is most important.”
