Newcastle United’s 5 transfer targets revealed, including Real Madrid World Cup winner

Newcastle United’s 5 transfer targets revealed, including Real Madrid World Cup winner

All change on Tyneside

Unless you have been living under a rock, you will be well aware that Newcastle were subject to a successful takeover by the Saudi Arabia Public Investment fund, making them the richest club in the world.

This has seen the Magpies since sack manager Steve Bruce, and replace him with former Bournemouth and Burnley boss Eddie Howe, who has spent the last twelve months out of work following a divorce with the Cherries.

With the club yet to find a league win yet this season, January reinforcements are almost certain to come through the door, and, as per some reports, there could be big names involved.

Spanish press outline Eddie Howe’s 5 targets

As per Spanish outlet Marca, Newcastle’s five targets this January have been revealed. Perhaps the most unattainable is Real Madrid stalwart and World Cup winner Toni Kroos, who would be unlikely to swap the Santiago Bernabeu for St James’ Park, even if the club could agree a fee with Los Blancos.

Beyond that, the options appear quite reasonable: Niklas Sule has been linked with the club before, while Tyrone Mings and Donny van de Beek are both out of their respective starting XIs at club level, though the former remains Aston Villa’s captain and may see a new lease of life under a soon-to-be-named new manager.

Finally, there is Jesse Lingard, another whose position on Manchester United’s bench has cost him a spot in the English national team. Now an outcast from the Three Lions, he may feel that a move is needed to secure his place on the plane to Qatar, should Gareth Southgate’s side qualify for the 2022 World Cup.
