Newcastle United are considering a move for a late-window move for a key member of the midfield setup at Championship high-flyers Sheffield United, according to reports.
The Blades star in the sights of the transfer team at St. James’ Park? Sander Berge.
For those not aware, Eddie Howe and co. have been left with little choice but to reassess the club’s options in the middle of the park ahead of the 2nd half of the campaign.
This comes after word was forthcoming earlier today that the returning Jonjo Shelvey is close to a departure, amid efforts to manoeuvre a move to Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest.

With the Magpies’ engine room ranks already widely considered as lacking in depth, sourcing fresh blood ahead of Tuesday’s transfer deadline has, in turn, emerged as something of a priority on Tyneside.
And now, as alluded to above, one such potential target has been identified.
Any such swoop would come in the form of a loan, likely featuring either an option or obligation to buy in the summer.
It now remains to be seen whether or not the board at Bramall Lane are even open to discussing the sale of a player who has contributed four goals and three assists across 19 Championship appearances thus far this season.
