Newcastle boss Eddie Howe provides injury update on key duo ahead of Everton

Eddie Howe's side are getting cut adrift at the bottom of the league

Eddie Howe would hold his pre-Everton press conference on Wednesday.

The Magpies will face off with Frank Lampard’s side on Thursday evening at 7:45 pm UK time.

When speaking to the media, Howe discussed a number of topics in his presser, including team news.

Both Joe Willock and Jonjo Shelvey missed Newcastle’s last outing vs Chelsea. And whilst Willock should be back for Thursday, Howe seemed less confident of having Shelvey return:

"Joe Willock should be OK. He had an illness but returned to training yesterday. With Jonjo Shelvey, we're waiting to see. He hasn't trained yet so he's a bigger concern."

Everton vs Newcastle

Newcastle head into the game with Everton looking to bounce back from their 1-0 loss at the hands of Chelsea.

It is the first time Newcastle have been beaten in several weeks, but Howe is no doubt keen to get back to winning ways as the North East outfit charge towards that magic 40-point mark.

Newcastle are currently on 31 points with 10 games left to play.

As for Everton, they are in danger of slipping into the relegation zone, The Toffees do have three games in hand on 18th place. But given Everton’s current form, it is hard to see them picking up many, if any, points from said matches.
