The Premier League has seen some unbelievable seasons in its 30-year history, but few have managed to score over 100 goals in a season.
For context, it is some achievement. To score 100 goals in a season, clubs have to manage an average of 2.63 goals per game, which unsurprisingly is often title-winning form.
But who holds the records? We take a look at the five highest scoring season’s by any side in the competition’s history.

1. Manchester City (2017-18) – 106
A famous season for many reasons, Manchester City and Pep Guardiola were all-conquering as they became the first side to rack up 100 points in the Premier League, and in which they scored a mammoth 106 goals in the process.
A strike from Gabriel Jesus against Southampton ensured that they became centurions, also picking up the League Cup trophy as they swept all before him.

2. Chelsea (2009-2010) – 103
Chelsea may be struggling to score goals at the moment, but that wasn’t always the case. In fact, until they were dethroned by Manchester City, the double winning season of 2009-10 was the best on record.
Pipping Manchester United to the Premier League title by just a single point, the Blues had 14 different goalscorers in a memorable season.

3. Manchester City (2019-20) – 102
Two years after the record-breaking season, Manchester City were close to breaking it again. They lost the Premier League title to Liverpool, but that was not for lack of goals.
20 Premier League goals from Raheem Sterling headlined their season, which included an 8-0 win over Watford, four 5-0 wins including impressive outings against Burnley, Brighton and Newcastle United.
Coming away from the season with just a Carabao Cup to their name, they finished a mammoth 18 points behind Champions Liverpool, but still rank highly on this list.

4. Manchester City (2013-14) – 102
12 months on from meekly surrendering their Premier League title to cross-city rivals United in Sir Alex Ferguson’s final season in management, City roared back under Manuel Pellegrini to snatch it back to the blue side of the city.
Pipping Liverpool to the top spot by just two points, Yaya Toure spearheaded their success with an immense 20 goals in the English top flight, the most of any Manchester City player. He was closely followed by striking duo Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko, and the Cityzens had 14 different goalscorers in an impressive campaign.

5. Liverpool (2013-2014) – 101
Beaten to the Premier League title by just two points, Liverpool were also narrowly outgunned that season, managing one fewer than Manchester City as they finished second.
Spearheaded by Luis Suarez in his final season for the club, Brendan Rodgers’ side were in pole position to lift their first ever Premier League title until Steven Gerrard’s now infamous slip against Chelsea.
With goalscorers ranging from Daniel Sturridge to Jon Flanagan, it was a season to remember for the Reds, even if they ended it on a bitter note.
