‘More than Antony’ – Shakhtar chief reveals valuation of Arsenal target Mudryk

Suffice to say, the 21-year-old is held in high regard by his current employers

The widespread suitors of Shakhtar Donetsk star Mykhaylo Mudryk have, on Friday evening, been provided with an insight into the kind of fee likely to be required to prise the explosive attacker away from Ukraine.

The name of wide-man Mudryk, of course, has taken its place front and centre in the headlines across the continent over the course of the season to date.

This comes with the 21-year-old, hotly tipped for a move to both the Premier League and Serie A during the summer, having begun to showcase his immense talents on European football’s biggest stage.

Across appearances in all five of Shakhtar’s Champions League group stage outings, Mudryk has directly contributed to five goals.

The latest of these came this past Tuesday, courtesy of a spectacular last-gasp equaliser at Celtic Park:

Amid mounting interest in the services of his side’s crown jewel, it therefore came as little surprise when, this week, the subject of Mudryk’s future was put to Shakhtar Donetsk deputy sporting director, Carlo Nicolini.

Amongst the most noteworthy takeaways were Shakhtar’s viewpoint that Mudryk’s name belongs amongst those of world football’s best wide players, and that the likes of Arsenal or Manchester City would be required to cough up at least the sum forked over by Man United for Antony during the summer to land the Ukrainian international:

“Together with Mbappè, Leao and Vinicius, Mudryk is the strongest player in that role,“ Nicolini began.

“Is 40 million enough to buy him? We do not speak for these figures. Not even for fifty, we don’t even call the president to make the offer. We value Mudryk more than Manchester United’s Antony – 100 million. Floating between Arsenal and Manchester City? They are two teams that have taken an interest in the player. But there are also other clubs that can spend right away. We are not obliged to sell, we do not want to lose phenomena. We don’t want to shoot figures that aren’t realistic. But in this team, he is the most decisive. If you want to take on certain players who make a difference in the top clubs, you also need the right money “.
