Mikel Arteta reveals Emile Smith Rowe & Bukayo Saka’s reaction to Arsenal chant

Mikel Arteta has spoken out about the Arsenal chant dedicated to Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe.

The duo were the stars of the show in Arsenal’s latest outing. The Gunners would face off with Brentford on Saturday afternoon, looking to close the gap between themselves and the top-four.

And, when the 90 minutes were up, goals from Saka and Smith Rowe proved enough to guide Arsenal to three points, and ensure that Christian Norgaard’s 93rd-minute strike stood as little more than a consolation.

After Brentford, Mikel Arteta was asked about the now-famed Arsenal chant, which goes as follows: ‘Hale End’s on a roll! Saka and Emile Smith Rowe!’.

“They love that song because they are players we have raised in our system.”

On Smith Rowe and Saka, the Spaniard added: “They have to get the headlines because they do what is most difficult and win the match by an individual action.

“They deserve credit for that, but I thought the rest of the team were very good too. “We do a lot of work with them individually, mentally with the psychologists, to fill their belief.

“They see how they are with the supporters, that energy and that’s probably their biggest strength. “[Smith Rowe] He’s been injured. He’s worked really hard and when he plays like he did today, he’s really good.”

Arsenal vs Wolves

Arsenal will now turn their attentions towards Wolves, whom they are set to face on Thursday the 24th of February.

The Gunners head into the midweek action sitting 6th in the Premier League table.

However, the north Londoners could yet overtake both West Ham and Manchester United by winning their games in hand.

Wolves, though, will prove no pushovers. Bruno Lage’s side are currently 8th in the Premier League, and have won four of their last five league outings.

They are also just five points behind Arsenal in the table, meaning Thursday’s tie is a must-win for Arteta and co.
