Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta makes bold Jorginho prediction following last-gasp winner over Aston Villa

The Gunners moved back to the top of the table thanks to the former Chelsea man

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has claimed that Arsenal fans are ‘going to fall in love’ with January signing Jorginho, after the Italian played a massive role in their 4-2 win at Villa Park on Saturday.

Jorginho, signed from Chelsea in a deal worth £11m on January’s transfer deadline day, replaced Thomas Partey in the Arsenal XI on Wednesday after the Ghanaian picked up a back injury, and was once again on duty against Aston Villa as his teammate recovered.

And the former Blue handed his new side a massive boost in the race for the Premier League title, with his effort crashing back off the underside of the crossbar and flying in off Emiliano Martinez to hand Arsenal a massive three points on Saturday, made sweeter by Manchester City’s draw which left the Gunners two points clear atop the Premier League table once more, with a game in hand on their nearest rivals.

After the game Mikel Arteta was quick to praise his newest addition, claiming that the ‘humble’ midfielder will soon have Arsenal fans falling in love with him despite his time across in west London.

“They (Arsenal fans) are going to fall in love with him”, he claimed. “The same way the players have and the coaching staff have here because of his personality, how humble he is, because he makes everybody better and that’s a huge quality.”

That certainly seems to be the case, with the travelling support staying behind after the win to sing his praises in the away end at Villa Park.
