England and France clashed in the quarter-final of the 2022 World Cup on Saturday evening.
England dominated the game and were the better side across the 90 minutes.
However, two moments of brilliance from France, some awful refereeing and Harry Kane missing a penalty saw England fall to a 2-1 defeat and they are now set to head home whilst France meet Morocco in the semi-final.
Bukayo Saka was arguably England’s best player on the day.
He won the penalty Kane scored from and caused Les Bleus all sorts of issues down their left-hand side.
Now, after the game, former Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has sent a message to Bukayo Saka and the England team:
“Great game from my brother [Saka] – the future belongs to you.”
Saka is now set to travel home and prepare for Arsenal’s clash with West Ham on Boxing Day.
Arsenal are five points clear atop of the Premier League ahead of its return, but they have a long way to go if they are to dethrone Manchester City.
