Mesut Ozil provides public response to Fenerbahce exclusion

Mesut Ozil has taken to social media on Friday, to provide a public response to his banishment from Fenerbahce's first-team setup.

The name of German creator Ozil of course took its place front and centre in the headlines on Thursday, after Turkish heavyweights Fener released a statement, confirming that the 33-year-old had been dropped:

Ensuing reports pointed towards a falling out and verbal altercation with interim manager Ismail Kartal as being behind the decision, a development which many of an Arsenal persuasion highlighted as justification for Mikel Arteta's treatment of Ozil towards the close of his stint in north London.

And now, as alluded to above, the veteran midfielder has spoken publicly for the first time since his exclusion from Fenerbahce's squad was made official.

Taking to his personal social media platforms, Ozil unveiled a simple message, translating as 'The main thing is Fenerbahce', accompanied by a photo of the club's flag, alongside that of Turkey:

Ozil's impending absence will undoubtedly come as something of a blow to Fenerbahce, particularly in front of goal.

This comes with the capital giants, currently in the midst of a tense battle for Champions League football, having seen their midfield conductor play a key role to this point in the campaign.

All told, across appearances in 22 of the club's 30 Super Lig outings, Ozil has racked up a none-too-shabby eight goals, to go along with a customary pair of assists.
