Ex-Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand makes top-four prediction

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has made his Premier League prediction this week.

Manchester United had a terrible 2021/22 campaign which saw them slump to their lowest ever points total in Premier League history.

The Red Devils have since made Erik ten Hag their new manager and brought in several new faces.

However, United still need another striker – especially if Cristiano Ronaldo leaves – and also a defensive midfielder because, despite Ten Hag’s comments, it is obvious United cannot compete at the top level for an entire season with just Fred and Scott and McTominay as holding midfielders.

Despite this, Rio Ferdinand believes Manchester United will still clinch 4th this season:

“I can’t look any further than Man City (for the PL title). The top four will be Manchester City, Liverpool, Spurs and Manchester United, in that order.”

In another blow for Chelsea, Martin Keown also suggested the Blues could fall out of the top-four this year:

However, Danny Murphy stated that it is hard to see Chelsea not finishing 4th:

“It’s hard to go against Chelsea finishing in the top four. There are still question marks over them, but if they bring in Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona as well as Marc Cucurella, then things will start to look very different.”
