Manchester United vs Barcelona betting tips: UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg preview and predictions

Man United vs Barcelona prediction: Man United 0-2 Barcelona

A huge Champions League clash between two of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Nights like these were what Old Trafford was built for.

Against all the odds, Manchester United made it through to the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.

Surely Solskjær’s side can’t pull of another huge upset.

Can they?

With Ole at the wheel, anything is possible.

Lionel Messi Barcelona

Manchester United vs Barcelona: Who will win?

Manchester United are 13/5 to have a lead going into the return fixture at Camp Nou.

Barcelona have never won any of their 4 visits to Old Trafford but are evens to change that.

A draw is 13/5.

A score-draw, which would put Barça in the box seat, is 10/3.

Under 2.5 goals is evens.

Both teams to score no is 5/4.

Barcelona to win and both teams to score no is 11/4.

Marcus Rashford

Marcus Rashford will return for the home side. He scored the winner in Paris and is 13/2 to score first and 12/5 to score anytime.

Anthony Martial is also 13/2 to score first and 12/5 to score anytime.

Luis Suárez scored his 23rd goal of the season for Barcelona at the weekend. The Uruguayan has not scored in an away Champions League game since September 2015 but is 4/1 to score first and 7/5 to change that anytime.

Lionel Messi has a staggering 43 goals this season including 8 in the Champions League. The Argentine magician is 5/2 to break the deadlock and 4/5 to score anytime.

Both Rashford and Martial to score is 11/1.

Both Messi and Suárez to score is 7/2.

Manchester United vs Barcelona: Match preview

A night in Paris that’ll never be forgotten.

Manchester United’s 3-1 win at Parc des Princes to overturn the 2-0 first leg defeat to Paris Saint-Germain will live long in the memory.

Now they take on another giant of the European game so can they pull of another extraordinary win?

It will not be easy.

Especially as the Red Devils come into this game in poor form.

Their last match was 8 days ago at Molineux but they were beaten 2-1 by Wolverhampton Wanderers.

That was their third defeat in four games; a run which has seen them drop to sixth in the table, three points outside the Champions League places.

However, they can put that to one side for now.

This could be a famous European night in the North West so can they pull of another amazing win?

Ivan Rakitic Barcelona

1992. 2006. 2009. 2011. 2015. 2019?

As for Barcelona, this is the title they crave more than any other.

They’ve had to sit and watch their fiercest rivals Real Madrid win this competition in each of the last 3 seasons but that has only made them more determined to reclaim this crown.

In the last round, they swept aside Olympique Lyonnais with a 5-1 win in Catalonia.

This could be a tougher test though.

Unlike their hosts, they did have a game at the weekend and it was a tough one too.

Goals in the 86th and 88th minute saw them narrowly past 10-man Atlético Madrid.

That has put them 11 points clear with 7 to play so surely the title will be returning to the Camp Nou.

As they are in the Copa del Rey Final, they’re on course for back to back domestic doubles and a fifth in eleven season.

But Valverde knows it is all about the Champions League.

Will his side leave Old Trafford with a lead?

After over a week without a fixture, Solskjær has had a chance to get some of his key men back.

They’ve been ravaged with injuries in the past few months but the treatment room has become a little more spacious in the last week or so.

As ever, Spain’s number 1 goalkeeper David de Gea will be in goal.

He’s only kept 10 clean sheets in 39 games this season but will do well to add to that here.

In defence, despite both being banned domestically, Ashley Young and Luke Shaw will start at full-back.

Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelöf appears to be the first choice centre-back pairing.

Solskjær went 3-5-2 at Wolves but is expected to revert to 4-3-3.

Nemanja Matić was on the bench in that one but is likely to come in as Solskjær is hopeful he will be fit.

Ander Herrera’s is in the same boat at Matić.

He also didn’t train on Tuesday but, if at all fit, will play.

If either of them miss out, Scott McTominay will keep his place.

Paul Pogba was suspended for the match in his native France but will come back into the team.

Up front, it’s likely that Solskjær will be hoping he can name his first choice trio.

Marcus Rashford limped off against Watford 11 days ago and Anthony Martial only managed 17 minutes at Wolves but both are likely to start here.

Romelu Lukaku will be left out.

Ashley Young, Luke Shaw, Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matić are all a booking away from missing the trip to Camp Nou.

Can this side compete with their Catalan visitors?

Ousmane Dembele

As for Ernesto Valverde’s side, they’ve not had the luxury of 8 days off.

In fact, he’s expected to name the same side that started against Atlético Madrid on Saturday night.

The superb Marc-André ter Stegen will be in goal.

He’s conceded just 38 goals in 41 appearances this season.

In defence, Sergi Roberto, ostensibly a midfielder, will continue at right-back ahead of Nélson Semedo.

Valverde has a big decision to make at centre-back.

He’s expected to pick Clément Lenglet over his fellow Frenchman Samuel Umtiti just as he did at the weekend.

Left-back Jordi Alba has 15 assists this season so will be a real threat.

In midfield, Arthur has been outstanding since joining from Grêmio for €40 million last summer.

He, Rakitić and Busquets are very much the first choice trio.

Up front, Ousmane Dembélé is not expected to be fit after he tore the femoral biceps muscle in his left hamstring against Lyon.

However, he could be on the bench.

Nevertheless, who comes in for him?

Despite the fact Malcom has been in far better form, it’s expected that Philippe Coutinho will get the nod despite the fact he’s very low on confidence.

He’ll join Saturday’s goal-scorers Luis Suárez and Lionel Messi in a frightening front three.

Former Tottenham and Portsmouth man Kevin-Prince Boateng will be amongst the substitutes.

Will this Barcelona side prove too good for Manchester United?
