United’s midfield conundrum
Manchester United have struggled in central midfield all season. Although Scott McTominay and Fred are good players, they are quickly found out against better opposition, and lack the skills required to make a vital difference when it comes to moving the ball up the pitch.
One alternative option is of course Donny van de Beek, but he is seemingly out in the cold at the moment, and could not even make it onto the pitch ahead of Nemanja Matic and Fred against Villarreal, something the Dutchman was evidently unhappy about.

The club seem to be crying out for an authoritative central midfielder who can grab a game by the scruff of the neck and affect both boxes.
Manchester United target Franck Kessie
As per Sport Witness, one player whom the Red Devils could turn to as a solution is AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie.
The Ivorian has impressed during his time with the Rossoneri, catching the eye of Liverpool as well as Spurs, but only has one year left to run on his contract in Italy, and has rejected the latest Milanese offer.
I feel Milan not selling Franck Kessie was a big mistake. They risk losing him for free & they could have made a profit on him
Apparently he wants 8 million per season & Milan is not going to offer that surely
Finishing top 4 again would salvage this probably

And according to the report, it is Manchester United that are now “pressing” for Kessie, although it is unclear whether any potential swoop would be in January or in the summer, when he will be available for free.
Would the Milan standout solve United’s midfield issues, or is the solution simply one of tactics?
