Manchester United make Michael Carrick U-turn following Villarreal win

Manchester United have reportedly made a U-turn regarding caretaker manager Michael Carrick following his side’s win over Villarreal.

Manchester United into the last 16

Manchester United played out their first game of the post-Ole Gunnar Solskjaer era on Tuesday evening.

The Manchester powerhouse would take on Villarreal in a Champions League tie, which they won 2-0.

Cristiano Ronaldo would open the scoring for the Red Devils, before Jadon Sancho made it two after 90 minutes, netting what was his first goal for the club.


Man United make Michael Carrick decision?

With Solskjaer gone, Michael Carrick was then man tasked with managing the team in Spain.

Originally, Man United had confirmed that Carrick was only set to be in charge until an interim manager could be brought in until the end of the season:

Michael Carrick will now take charge of the team for forthcoming games, while the club looks to appoint an interim manager to the end of the season.

However, it now seems as though United could have changed their mind regarding Carrick’s role following the win over Villarreal.

Transfer insider Pedro Almeida reported late on Tuesday evening that Man United are ready to keep Carrick as coach until the end of the season, after which several names will be approached.
