Manchester United handed mixed injury update ahead of Nottingham Forest as midfield duo out but key stars return

Manchester United are in League Cup action vs Nottingham Forest on Wednesday evening.

United head into the game with a spot in the final already all but guaranteed.

The Red Devils ran out 3-0 winners in the first leg, meaning only a major upset would prevent Erik ten Hag and co. reaching the competition’s showpiece.

Ahead of the game, Ten Hag provided an injury update on Tuesday. The Dutchman has previously confirmed that Christian Eriksen will be out of action until around April.

And ahead of Forest, the former Ajax boss also stated that Scott McTominay is sidelined, though Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial could return:

“We have some issues,” Ten Hag told club media on Tuesday.

“I think tomorrow that Anthony Martial and Jadon Sancho will return in the game squad, but Scott McTominay will still be absent.

“I think also the next game [against Crystal Palace] he will be absent. We have to see how that process will go. And for the rest, I think everyone is fit.”

United add that it remains to be seen whether Diogo Dalot and Luke Shaw will be ready to face Steve Cooper’s side, with the full-backs having struggled with injury and illness respectively recently.
