Manchester United handed major injury boost ahead of Tottenham clash

The Red Devils could be onto a winner

Manchester United have been handed a massive boost on the injury front as it has emerged that midfield man Bruno Fernandes has travelled to the squad to north London ahead of their clash with Tottenham.

The Red Devils face their fellow top-4 hopefuls on Thursday evening, knowing that three points against the north Londoners would all but secure their spot in the top 4, and Champions League football back at Old Trafford.

Currently six points clear of the Lilywhites, they would extend that to nine with a win, while also having two games in hand on their rivals.

And though they will be forced to make do without defensive duo Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane, they will have the rejuvenated Fernandes back, who has enjoyed an excellent season under Erik ten Hag.

The midfielder, who has racked up just five goals and six assists in 29 Premier League games this season, but has become a crucial cog in the Red Devils machine and is confirmed to have travelled to take on Spurs.

It comes after an injury scare followed their FA Cup win over Brighton when his wife shared a photo on Instagram of the 28-year-old which showed the United man in a protective boot and with crutches to one side, with his right foot raised in a bid to speed up the healing process.

Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford is also expected to start despite looking a shadow of his former self since returning from injury, while Luke Shaw could also be preferred to Harry Maguire in the centre of the Red Devils defence.
