Manchester United handed major boost ahead of Real Sociedad

Manchester United have been handed a boost ahead of their clash with Real Sociedad.

Manchester United will begin their European campaign on Thursday evening. Erik ten Hag and co. will face off with Real Sociedad at 8 pm UK time at Old Trafford.

Manchester United have been drawn in Group G for the 2022/23 Europa League, alongside the aforementioned Real Sociedad, Sheriff and Omania.

It is a group United are almost certainly set to qualify from, but the fight for top spot is likely to be fought between the two teams squaring off in Manchester on Thursday.

Manchester United have improved a great deal since their opening two games of the season, most recently beating Arsenal 3-1 in a Premier League clash.

Sociedad, though, are a solid team and have already managed to clinch a 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid – the side who knocked Manchester United out of the Champions League last season.

However, Sociedad have been handed a blow ahead of facing off with Manchester United.

This comes with reports from Spain claiming that Real Sociedad’s Robin Le Normand won’t be available for the Europa League match on Thursday vs Manchester United, and that’s considered a ‘very important’ loss at centre-back.

As for Manchester United, it has been reported on Tuesday that Harry Maguire, Casemiro and Cristiano Ronaldo will all be starting on Thursday, along with Antony, Anthony Elanga and Fred.

This likely means rests for players such as Marcus Rashford, Scott McTominay, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez.
